Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, an American-Canadian singer and songwriter. She has released more than 20 studio albums. DiFranco categorizes her music under the terms folk-rock and alternative. However, it contains influences such as hip-hop, punk and jazz. The widely regarded feminist icon Grammy winner Ani DiFranco was the founder of the DIY movement being one of the first musicians to launch her own label 1990. DiFranco's parents were Elizabeth (Ross), a former student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each the other when they were each attending. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother comes from Montreal. Ani's song, 32 Flavors, was composed by her and is performed by Ani. DiFranco apologized in 2013 after it was announced that she would be hosting the three-day workshop on the Louisiana plantation for slaves.
